For the kids
In the absence of parents, we offer vocational training to teach children the skills that can enable them to add value to society in years to come.
We offer a safe place for children to play, read, do their homework, eat, have a shower and, most importantly, have a childhood.
We recognise the importance of cultural sensitivity. Local staff are at the forefront of ensuring that children are taught traditional values and skills.
The children are aged 8 – 18. We concur with the Botswana Government’s view that children below this age should be constantly
cared for by close relatives or close friends.
It is important to appreciate that dying of AIDS is a horrible, very slow, very painful and,
because of the stigma associated with it, a lonely way to die.
It is worth noting that significantly more than half of Botswana’s orphans are adolescents.
